Like many people, Marcia Hawkins, owner of New York Shop Exchange, loves to shop. After doing rather a lot of shopping, Ms. Hawkins noticed she was running out of closet space. To rectify this situation, she decided to open a unique resale shop and sell the garments that were perfectly chic and lovely, but were no longer worthy of her “adorment,” as she says. So began New York Shop Exchange, a unique concept in resale retail. Today the shop has grown to house several small businesses and is the home of Nonni’s Naturals (a line of dolls, quilts, soaps and more) and of Meat for Tea: The Valley Review, the edgy arts & literary journal.
